Synopsis

Zagros is a poetic and immersive documentary that journeys through the ancient oak forests of the Zagros Mountains. One of the rarest and most threatened ecosystems in the world. Through sweeping drone cinematography and slow, observational pacing, the film captures both the breathtaking beauty and the quiet devastation shaping this landscape year after year.Rooted deeply in Kurdish land and identity, the forests are more than a natural habitat. They are living archives of memory, tradition, and survival. The film weaves together environmental storytelling with cultural expression, including echoes of dengbêj, reflecting a longstanding human connection to the land.
