Rasim Asan is a Kurdish film director born in 1983 in Şîrnex, Northern Kurdistan.
During his high school years, he became deeply involved in cultural activities such as theater and the promotion of the Kurdish language. These engagements eventually brought him into conflict with the political climate of the time in Turkey, leading him to seek refugee status in Belgium in 2012, where he has been based since.
Asan earned a Master’s degree in Film Directing from RITCS in Brussels in 2021. His graduation film, New Planet (2024), marked his first short film project, while his current work, Two Men and a Chair, represents his first professional short film.
