Şiyar Tuğrul is a teacher and filmmaker based in Hatay, whose work emerges from the intersection of lived experience, memory, and place. Following the devastating earthquake, he has been living in a container city, where everyday life unfolds amid loss, resilience, and the quiet persistence of rebuilding. This reality has deeply informed his artistic voice.
His first short film, February Infinity, draws directly from this environment, reflecting both the fragility and continuity of human experience in the aftermath of disaster. Through his work, Tuğrul explores themes of testimony and collective memory, transforming personal narratives into shared spaces of reflection. By grounding his storytelling in real lives and locations, he seeks to preserve moments that might otherwise fade, offering a cinematic language that is intimate, honest and enduring.
