Emeer Hassanpour is a Kurdish filmmaker and scholar whose work spans experimental and documentary cinema. He holds a Master’s degree in Cinema Studies from the University of Southern California and is currently pursuing a PhD at UCLA.
Hassanpour served as the former president of the Chicago Experimental Film Society, fostering experimental film practices and supporting independent filmmakers. Prior to his first feature film, he directed and produced several short documentaries and experimental works, which have been showcased at multiple international festivals and public screenings. His films explore memory, identity, and cultural narrative through innovative visual storytelling, bridging scholarly insight with cinematic practice.
