Brwa Vahabpour (born 1993 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Kurdish‑Norwegian filmmaker whose work spans acclaimed short films, television drama, and his debut feature. He holds a bachelor’s degree in directing from The Norwegian Film School (2018) and has quickly established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema.
Vahabpour’s award‑winning shorts: including Pomegranate, The Shepherd, and Silence, have screened at international A‑festivals such as Short Shorts, Palm Springs, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, Encounters, and Aspen Short Fest. His film Silence received the Screen Talent Europe Pitch Prize in 2019 and Best Edit at The Norwegian Short Film Festival in 2020.
In addition to his short work, he has directed episodes of the TV drama Countrymen (2021), which premiered at CANNESERIES.
His feature debut, My Uncle Jens (2025), blends comedy and drama to explore themes of identity, family, and cultural belonging through the story of a Kurdish‑Norwegian teacher whose life is upended by an unexpected visit from his uncle.
