Synopsis

In the village of “Dizaj Dol” near Iran’s Lake Urmia, severe water scarcity has dried wells and gardens. Farmers Kak Mohammad and Mashhadi Askar, from diverse backgrounds, grapple with environmental challenges. Kak Mohammad’s well provides limited water, but as the lake shrinks, he struggles to irrigate his garden. Drought and salt storms exacerbate recession, unemployment, and disease. Villagers seek solace in prayer: Mashhadi Asgar and the Azaris hold ceremonies by the dwindling lake, while Kak Mohammad and the Kurds congregate in mosques. Despite adversity, Kak Mohammad pushes forward with his son’s wedding plans, but worries about the lake’s future persist.
