Logline: Depicting the ordinary life of three characters living under a state of emergency – a painter, her mother who models for her, and her father who tries to reimagine their war-stricken city through old photographs.

Synopsis:
Before the Night portrays ordinary life under the enduring state of emergency, from the perspective of its three characters. Gulbîn, a painter living with her parents, is trying to make her own way in life, while obsessively painting a portrait of her mum with inspiration from Whistler’s painting Mother. The mother models for her daughter while trying to insulate her house from the noise of the bombs to no avail. The father, whose health is deteriorating, tries to reimagine his war-stricken city with old photographs he has taken.

Ali Kemal Çınar – Director

Ali Kemal Çinar was born in Diyarbakır. He is the scriptwriter and director of ten short films. In 2013, he made his first feature film Short Film, which was influenced by his short films. Shot in 2015, his film Hidden received Best Film and Turkish Film Critics’ Association Best Film awards at the 15th Istanbul Independent Film Festival and Jury Prize at the 28th Hamburg International Queer Film Festival. In 2017, his third feature film Gênco received the Best Film Award from the 28th Ankara International Film Festival. He is currently living in Diyarbakır where he continues making his films.

Logline: A big surprise awaits the teacher who is appointed to his hometown, which he knows like the back of his hand; the village he was assigned is not in the maps or on any official records.

Synopsis: Edip is appointed to his hometown as a teacher just after graduating from university. When he goes to the government office to start work, he learns that the village he was assigned to is not in the records. He could not tolerate the slowness of the bureaucracy any longer because schools are about to open. He starts to search for Yeşilköy himself, which cannot be found in any of the official records, in the region he knows like the back of his hand. Edip, who is looking for Yeşilköy in Diyarbakır, will find himself in one of Turkey’s biggest political problems.

Aram Dildar – Director

Aram Dildar was born in Batman in 1990. He acted in plays unprofessionally in several theater companies in Batman where he lived until he finished his high school education. In 2008 he got into Marmara University, the branch of radio cinema and television and he started to live in İstanbul. He took the leading role in the feature film Press, which started shooting in the same year. He won the Behlül Dal Special Jury Award from the 47th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival when the film Press was released in 2010. In 2011, he received the Most Promising New Actor Award at the 22nd Ankara Film Festival. In 2012, he received the Best Actor Award from the 6th Sinepark Film Festival with his short film Musa. He worked in various positions in short or feature films and TV shows. He directed 5 short films. He continues his career as an actor and director.
