Özkan Küçük was born in Dersim (Tunceli). He completed his MA at Marmara University, Department of Radio-TV-Cinema, with his thesis entitled “Cinema of Turkey during the Nineties.”
Between 1997–2009, he worked with the Mesopotamia Cinema Collective and published articles in several newspapers and journals. He is one of the founders of the Cegerxwin Art Conservatory and the Cinema Academy, where he also lectured in various fields of Film Studies. Moreover, he is the creator of the FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival and Kısa Dalga (Short Wave) film days.
