Hamoun Dolatshahi is a Kurdish-Iranian filmmaker and founder of Zagros Film LLC, a Los Angeles–based studio focused on bold, socially driven storytelling across film and television. Born in Kermanshah, Iran, and resettled in the U.S. as a refugee in 2010, Hamoun’s work explores identity, migration, and cultural memory within the diaspora.
He holds a BA in Communication from UC San Diego and an MFA in Directing/Producing from UCLA. His credits include five short films, music videos, and assistant director/producer roles on various projects, including the A24/Netflix series BEEF.
Hamoun’s latest film, JIN (2024), won the Sloan Film Grant and investigates AI, language ethics, and Kurdish feminist theory. Through Zagros Film, he champions underrepresented voices and builds a platform for impactful, visually compelling storytelling.
